“Using Christ as our example, the purpose of the Palmetto Presbyterian Church Mission Team is to use our time and resources to assist those in need in our local community and in the world.”
Habitat for Humanity
This Summer, some of our PPC members joined with other volunteers and the new homeowners in a dedication ceremony at the completion of the two houses that our church teams had helped build.
It was a beautiful ceremony as the homeowners expressed their love and gratitude for all those that had helped get them to this place of home ownership.
At the completion of the building process, in which the new owners invested their own “sweat equity” alongside other volunteers, the two new houses held one final huge surprise.
Their homes were completely furnished and in move-in condition, not typical for Habitat homes. The wonderful home furnishings were provided by Warwick Dunn Charities, founded by Warwick Dunn, a former Florida State star who played eleven seasons in the NFL and established a foundation to “Pay It Forward”.
It was a morning of love and prayer and comradery, a true celebration!
Our Missions
Palmetto Presbyterian Church Lowcountry Blessing Box Project
Our goal is to place and maintain Blessing Boxes around the Lowcountry. Blessing boxes are stocked with non-perishable food items, basic toiletries, baby supplies, and anything else that might be considered a blessing to someone who finds themselves in need. Items are anonymously donated and anonymously received. A simple rule applies - Leave what you can, take what you need.
These are the items most commonly donated and used to stock the Blessing Box:
Canned food with ring-pulls.
Socks.
Crackers.
Toilet paper.
Non-perishable foods.
Bottled water.
Palmetto has three Blessing Box locations throughout Mount Pleasant:
Darrell Creek Road
Huger Community
Philips Community
Donations can be brought to the church for restocking the boxes.
